Transforming and expanding the old Banco do Brasil Pelotas-RS headquarters, into a gastronomy cultural center, leads us to preserve the existing architecture; modifying its reality, without undermining the original meaning.
The new intervention looks to avoid a mimetic conception, dialoguing with existent and adopting a contemporary language. The design reflects a desire of complementarity between the old and new, performing a harmonious and cohesive complex.
We propose the gastronomy and cultural center as a community place, offering new spaces to the social life that enhances the research and diffusion of the local and regional cuisine. It’s a bundling place where gastronomy meets architecture and the city.
